The 3rd International Conference on BioTech 2018 was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka together with collaborations of the University of Kent, United Kingdom as the Hosting Partner. University of Malaya, Malaysia, Faculty of food technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, Croatia, Anna University India and The BCAS Campus in Sri Lanka were the academic partners of the conference.

The conference was held on 8th– 9th March 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. BioTech 2018 was organized under the theme “ Pursuing innovation in Bioscience and Biotechnology ” and was co- chaired by Prof. Mark Smales, Professor of Industrial Biotechnology, Director of the Industrial Biotechnology, University of Kent, United Kingdom and Dr Chamari Hettiarachchi Senior lecturer in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Colombo.
The opening remarks of BioTech 2018 were made by Dr. Chamari Hettiarachchi (Conference Co – Chair) together with Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Managing Director, The International Institute of Knowledge Management).
Keynote forum was the one of the most significant moments during the conference and it was enlightened by the key note speech by Prof. Atta-Ur-Rahman, Professor Emeritus/Patron-in-Chief, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi, Pakistan.
Other keynote speeches were given by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Mrša, University of Zagreb, Croatia, Dr. James Budge, University of Kent, United Kingdom and Dr. Chamari Hettiarachchi, Senior lecturer in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Colombo. The plenary speech was delivered by Dr. Anuradha Dhanaskaran, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Anna University, India
Workshop by Prof. Atta – Ur – Rahman
The workshop on “Medicinal Plants as a Source of New Medicines” was organized parallel to the 3rd International Conference on Bioscience and Biotechnology 2018. The workshop will be conducted by Prof. Atta – Ur – Rahman. The Workshop was taken place with more than 150 local and foreign participants.
The conference comprised of five technical sessions and a poster session where researchers from around the world presented their research findings. The technical sessions as follow.

BioTech 2018 provided a solid platform for over 50 researchers, stake holders and policy makers from across the globe to share their research findings with one another and to discuss the policy implications. The conference provided a refreshing experience for all, especially for the young researchers who had the opportunity to share their research findings on an international platform. The conference was enlightened by international researches representing following Nations.

All accepted abstracts for 3rd International Conference on Bioscience and Biotechnology 2018 will be published in the conference abstract book with an associated ISBN. All full papers will be reviewed through a double blind reviewing process and published electronically with an (ISSN 2513 – 2695) in the proceedings with a DOI Number (DOI prefix: 10.17501). We will submit the proceedings to be indexed in the Thomson Reuters, SCOPUS and Google Scholar.
